Doing Some Running Again & It Feels So Good
This is my first official post on Eat Love Run and I can't be more excited. These past few weeks have been a whirlwind of emotions, I laughed, I cried, and haveonly put a small dent in my knowledge on blogging. I am ready for this journey as a blogger and wanted to share another journey with you that I am super stoked about. After over a year hiatus, I started to get back into running.
I took a break from running in May 2016 after finishing my second half marathon that year. That run was challenging for me because I did not train properly for it. I had to stop and walk several times throughout the race causing me to finish last in my age group. I am not a fast runner, nor will I ever finish first, I've always told myself that "as long as I finish nothing else matters". Well, this mattered. Instinctively I am not really competitive, I tend to care more about my own accomplishments and goals rather than if I am winning but coming in last really bruised the old ego. After seeing the results on line I decided that I would not commit to anymore half marathons until I can devote 100% to training.
I struggled for a year trying to find a balance between work and personal health. Work always won and I began to gain weight and struggled with any sort of fitness. A the end of 2016 I was at the heaviest I've ever been until a switch flipped and fast forward 6 months later I am down 20lbs and training for a half marathon in September.
I am back running and it feels so FREAKING GOOD, I can't even tell you!!!
What motivates me?
Health!! My health is my number one motivator. I strive to have a healthy lifestyle and running has always helped me stay on track. Sometime in the near future I want to start a family and want to be the healthiest I can be when that happens.
My <3 Dave also keeps me motivated. I want to one day be able to run at his pace so we can cross a finish line together.
And every single runner out there inspires me to keep going.
I will bed sharing my training updates with you along the way, but for now I want to know your thoughts. What fitness routine is working for you now?
